The track is a total change of pace from the opener, but I say it’s the Two Door we all came to see. It’s the unmistakable intro to Undercover Martyn, followed a word-for-word singalong by what I’d strongly argue to be everyone in the room. The upbeat track is enough to get the crowd moving, but it’s the opening riff of the following song that sends the venue into a frenzy. The set starts with the mathematic melodies of Talk, off latest record False Alarm. It is then, perhaps, with no surprise that lead vocalist Alex Trimble saunters on-stage in a suit and high neck polo, followed closely by his two bandmates Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday.

A dramatic countdown marks the beginning of the set, one that seems reflective of the band’s turn to showy pop-antics and flamboyant set and costume design. Tonight they play in the new Fortitude Music Hall, which is filled to near-capacity of a crowd slowly edging towards the stage.

Now touting record number four and playing in venues more than double in size, I’m clearly not the only one who is interested to see what Two Door have to offer. It was early 2013, and trio were touring their second record Beacon with a string of shows across in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
